MISTYPE
INDEPENDENT ARTIST | NEW ZEALAND
Born under the Hawke’s Bay sun and raised in the vibrant pulse of Wellington, Mistype cut his teeth in the shadows of underground releases, sweat-soaked house parties, and bass-heavy gatherings that rattled the capital’s foundations. From the very beginning, it wasn’t just about playing records—it was about creating moments, moving bodies, and uniting people through rhythm.
His journey took him to the UK, where he immersed himself in the epicenters of bass culture. There, he stood front left as titans of the scene—DMZ, Tempa, Deep Medi, Hyperdub—rewrote the rules of electronic music. Those nights weren’t just shows; they were lessons in sound system culture, and Mistype absorbed every frequency.
Forever restless and endlessly curious, he continues to experiment across the ever-expanding spectrum of electronic music. Yet one thing remains constant: his devotion to the low end. Whether it’s a packed club, a festival stage, or an intimate backyard session, Mistype’s mission is simple — to share his passion for music and keep the dancefloor alive, one bassline at a time.
